RSM's Birdies Fore Love
RSM employees raise funds to help children and families
Birdies Fore Love (BFL) is RSM’s charitable giving platform for The RSM Classic, a PGA TOUR event, for which RSM is title sponsor. Through Birdies Fore Love, RSM people raise funds for deserving charitable organizations focused on enhancing educational outcomes and the quality of life for children and families. These efforts are supported by matching donations from the RSM US Foundation.
Each year, RSM offices commit to raising funds for local charitable organizations aligned with the missions of the RSM US Foundation and the Davis Love Foundation, the host organization of The RSM Classic. RSM’s Birdies Fore Love office champions coordinate fun activities that help their respective locations reach fundraising and participation goals.
Since the inception of the RSM Classic in 2010, RSM and the Davis Love Foundation have donated more than $13 million to charities that support education and organizations that support children and families in the areas of hunger, housing and health. In 2018 alone, we donated more than $2.8 million to the 70+ deserving charities selected by our local offices.
In 2018, RSM expanded Birdies Fore Love through an on-course competition over the first eight events of the 2018-19 PGA TOUR season. The top three players who accumulated the most birdies (or better), beginning with the Safeway Open in Napa, California and concluding with The RSM Classic in Sea Island, Georgia, were awarded with $300,000, $150,000 and $50,000, respectively, for donation to the children- and/or family-focused charitable organizations of choice.
Cameron Champ finished in first place in the competition. As part of the program, his $300,000 winnings will be donated to Champ’s charity of choice, The Cameron Champ Foundation, in support of STEM education and youth golf. J.J. Spaun finished second, enabling him to make a $150,000 donation to the charity of his choice. After growing up in the Los Angeles area and seeing the devastation caused by the wildfires in the fall of 2018, Spaun chose to donate to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. He shared his thoughts on the Birdies Fore Love competition here.
Beginning in the fall of 2019, there will be a weekly winner from each of the first ten tournaments of the 2019-20 PGA TOUR season. Each weekly winner will be awarded $50,000 for donation to the charity of his choice. Winning players will be encouraged to designate the funds to charity organizations dedicated to building tomorrow’s middle market leaders through programs that support education, as well as organizations committed to improving the lives of youth through a focus on hunger, housing and health. RSM got a head start by awarding $50,000 to Patrick Rodgers, who recorded the most birdies (or better) at the 2018 RSM Classic. Rodgers chose to donate $40,000 to the Indianapolis Junior Golf Foundation, the group that helped him get his start in golf, and $10,000 to Hilarity For Charity.
