NABA Names RSM's Richard Caturano and Charles Barley Jr. 2018 National Award Winners

RSM US LLP (“RSM”) – the nation’s leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market – is pleased to announce that Richard Caturano and Charles Barley, Jr. were recently named by the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) as 2018 national award recipients.

Caturano, national leader of culture, diversity and inclusion with RSM, received the 2018 National Achievement in Public Accounting award. Barley, director of risk advisory services at RSM, won the 2018 Rising Star award.

In addition to Caturano’s role promoting diversity and inclusion at RSM, he was also the Chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 2012-2013, where he took on the challenge of the lack of diversity and inclusion in the accounting profession. He helped establish the National Commission on Diversity and Inclusion and has personally delivered the message of diversity and inclusion to tens of thousands of professionals and business leaders. He has been active in many professional, charitable and civic organizations, most proudly a past president of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and a current board member of the Boston Police Athletic League.

Barley created and leads the firm’s African American Community of Excellence (AACE) employee network group (ENG). This group provides its members with mentoring, leadership and professional development and networking opportunities to advance their careers at RSM and in public accounting. In 2017, Barley was chosen as RSM’s Working Father of the Year for successfully managing personal and professional priorities, providing exceptional experiences for RSM’s clients and people, and serving as a mentor and role model for others.

NABA, Inc. is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for black professionals in the accounting, finance and related business professions.

The winners were recognized during the 2018 NABA National Convention & Expo, which took place June 13 through June 17, in Orlando.
