The Real Economy: May 2024

How regulations and rate cuts are driving the shift to renewable energy

As renewable energy projects contend with regulatory hurdles and a challenging investment climate, it’s easy to lose sight of the progress being made in the transition away from fossil fuels.

In the May issue of The Real Economy, RSM Economist Tu Nguyen looks at this dynamic and offers her outlook for renewable energy. Even though the road to a sustainable future continues to be rocky, it holds the promise of economic prosperity as emissions fall, she writes.

Innovation is not an option—rather, it is a fundamental requirement to compete in the modern economy.
Joe Brusuelas, Chief Economist

Also in this issue, RSM Chief Economist Joseph Brusuelas looks at the shift to electric vehicles and its implications for American trade policy—specifically, the potential for protectionist policies against imports of Chinese-made electric vehicles.

We look at these topics and more in this issue of The Real Economy.
