Travel woes lead to good times

My husband and I have had a great time here at The Cloister for The RSM Classic! After terrible weather traveling from Birmingham to Atlanta yesterday, nearly missing our connection at the Atlanta airport to Brunswick with minutes to spare and run-walking through what seemed to be every square foot of the airport to our connecting flight, we finally arrived here at The Cloister around 4:30 pm. We were greeted by the RSM folks with our information packet and lanyards and were made to feel very welcome right away. We have an awesome suite that looks out on the water.
Last night was the RSM reception and dinner at the Spanish Lounge in The Cloister. The food was excellent as was the company. After some mingling we had a welcome from Joe Adams, and then pro golfer and Team RSM Member Zach Johnson spoke. He was fun and told some golf stories and answered questions about some of his experiences. He was very complimentary of the Davis Love Foundation and Birdies Fore Love and the amount of money raised for charity, it was gratifying to hear. We met some wonderful folks at the reception who are working very hard to make this a one-of-a-kind experience. We came here knowing nobody and we both feel that we are surrounded by friends now!
Today after a marvelous breakfast at The Lodge where we enjoyed a gorgeous view of the putting green and the ocean, Terri Andrews and Kim Bartok took us on a tour of the golf course, the RSM chalets that have been set up, and many of the behind-the-scenes activities that go into hosting a successful golf tournament. To say it was all a beehive of activity is to say the least! It was gratifying to learn that a lot of the signage, tickets and other elements on and around the course have been designed by kids benefitting from the funds raised through The RSM Classic, it’s good to have had a small part in the fundraising. Lots of golfers were out on practice rounds today, thankfully the weather was beautiful and warm, not rainy as predicted. We enjoyed our tour very much and look forward to touring around The Cloister as well.
Tonight we’ll attend the Pro-Am draft party at the home of Davis Love III and his wife Robin. We’re looking forward to that experience. It’s been a great time for us, we are so glad we’ve had the opportunity to participate this year in The RSM Classic!
