U.S. gross domestic product and other economic projections for 2018
WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY |
We anticipate a second consecutive quarter of 3.2 percent growth with risk of a faster pace of acceleration when the Bureau of Economic Analysis publishes its first estimate of U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) on Friday, Jan. 26. Household consumption will likely be the primary driver with a 3.8 percent of growth on the heels of a 2.2 percent rate of expansion in the previous quarter. In our assessment of GDP, we always focus on real final sales and sales to domestic purchasers, which in our assessment provides a better indication of domestic economic activity, should we arrive at or above 4 percent on the quarter.
