Markets await jobs report to give Fed green light to hike rates
The week ahead in financial markets will see a spate of first-tier economic releases. The February estimate of total employment by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which will be published March 10, is expected to be the major market-moving event. With the Federal Reserve in a quiet period ahead of its March 15 meeting, each high frequency data point will affect probability estimates for a rate increase.
Also this week, Canada will publish its monthly employment report on March 10, while in Europe there will be a European Central Bank meeting and rate announcement on March 9. The Royal Bank of Australia policy announcement will occur on March 8.
