Investor focus turns to "Grexit," Ukraine cease fire
WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY |
Risk appetite among global investors will likely remain focused on negotiations between Berlin and Athens on a renegotiation of the terms of Greek fiscal targets, debt repayments and whether the country will remain in the European Union. Investors will also be watching to see if the cease fire holds in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, in the U.S. there will be a holiday-shortened week with economic releases primarily revolving around February regional manufacturing surveys, an update on the housing sector and the minutes of last month’s Federal Reserve Open Market Committee meeting.
These data will probably reflect the general deceleration in growth from mid-2014’s torrid pace. While growth is slowing, it will likely remain well above the long-term trend of 2.1 percent in the U.S., probably closer to 2.7 percent for the full year.
