Global policy decisions, heavy U.S. data week on tap
WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY |
This week there’s a heavy slate of global policy decisions and U.S. economic data on tap that will likely foreshadow a spring rebound in economic activity, as well as the difficult challenges for Europe that lie ahead.
On the global front, the European Central Bank and Bank of Canada will publish their latest monetary policy and rate decisions, while in the United States there will be seven different Federal Reserve speakers scheduled, including St. Louis Fed President James Bullard, who will speak on financial regulation on Tuesday. Thursday and Friday G-20 central bankers and finance ministers will meet in Washington D.C. where they will likely discuss currency volatility, the severe economic and financial challenges in Europe and global economic imbalances. There will also be a heavy slate of high frequency U.S. economic data that will provide fresh information on housing, regional manufacturing, industrial production, inflation and consumer sentiment.
