Private equity veteran Howard Newman shares with Don Lipari, RSM's national private equity leader, the story of his rise from small town in Pennsylvania to the founder of a major private equity firm. He covers his long career at Warburg Pincus, decision to leave and start Pine Brook, as well as explains a signature offering of his firm, the “line of equity” approach to investing. 

Under separate cover, Howard Newman shares his outlook on commodity prices, the prominence of wind and solar generation. Additionally, he offers his views on disruptive forces at work in finance, notably technology, and stresses that most fintech startups are mostly offering pre-existing businesses in new packages.
