Private funds managers have been forced to up their valuations game. Beginning in 2011, the Securities and Exchange Commission required, through enforcement, that firms have a robust valuation policy in place.  Six years after that initial flare was sent up, detailed policies and procedures, and consistent application of them are the standards among firms both big and small. With valuation policies being followed consistently, the focus has turned to evaluation: assessing and testing its robustness.

Lindsay Hill, valuation services director at RSM US LLP, along with five additional industry leaders share insights and discuss the fund valuation process.  Collectively, the six roundtable participants agree the valuation process is one area of private fund compliance that has been more or less mastered.
