Restaurants turning to technology for their labor challenges

Answering restaurants’ people problem through technology

VIDEO  |

Labor has become a large issue for the restaurant industry. Companies are dealing with a tight labor market, rising wages, and recruiting and retention issues. To help combat the lack of people available to work, restaurants are turning to technology to help ease the burden, streamline their operations and improve efficiency.

To better illustrate how companies are leveraging technology, RSM’s national retail and restaurant leader, John Nicolopoulos, speaks with various restaurant operators and industry insiders. From robots and apps to tableside ordering and checkout kiosks, many are making technology work for them. However, one operator warns that taking technology too far could “take the soul of the brand” away from the business. Restaurants will have to find a balance that meets needs and enhances brand experience.

In the below video, hear what restaurant operators say about the industry’s people challenge and what solutions are working.
