About Tuan

Dr. Tuan Nguyen is an economist at RSM US LLP who analyzes high-frequency economic data within the United States and global economies to better understand its impact on the American middle market. Based in the firm’s New York City office, Tuan’s data-driven economic analysis and insights enhance the ability of middle market companies to thrive in an increasingly competitive and global economy.


Experience

With a Ph.D. in econometrics and quantitative economics, Tuan’s strong intellect, analytical rigor and data science skills help RSM address the profound and accelerating changes in the U.S. and global economies. Tuan is passionate about using data to drive decisions and helping others understand complex sets of data to analyze and forecast current and future economic situations. He works closely with the firm’s cutting-edge Industry Eminence Program to help senior analysts accelerate data-driven strategies in their line of business. His areas of focus include the comprehensive measurement framework for environmental, social and governance (ESG) financial reporting, as well as trends in behavioral, labor and network economics and in industrial organizations. 

Tuan is passionate about applying his skill set to make a positive impact for clients and colleagues. His adaptable mindset allows him to quickly learn about new topics and approach uncharted ideas with an open mind. He is a key contributor to RSM’s monthly publication The Real Economy, in which he provides deep economic insights for middle market businesses. He appreciates the opportunity RSM provides to benefit organizations and individuals by doing what he loves with economic data. In December 2023, Tuan and the economics team were recognized on Bloomberg's list of Best Bond Forecasters after correctly predicting where the benchmark Treasury would end the year.

Originally from Vietnam, Tuan held research and marketing positions in Hanoi before coming to the United States to further his education. Before joining RSM, he was a graduate researcher, lecturer and teaching assistant for the economics department of his alma mater, Northeastern University, where he taught macroeconomics, international economics and microeconomic theory. He leverages his teaching experience to effectively communicate and dissect abstract economic topics in his role at RSM. 

Tuan embraces new cultural experiences and appreciates RSM’s commitment to engaging a diversity of ideas, cultures and perspectives. He has traveled to more than 20 countries and looks forward to expanding his talents with RSM on a global scale.
