Tony Urban

Tax Leader, Principal

About Tony

Tony was named national tax leader for RSM US LLP in January 2023 and has been with the firm for more than 21 years. He oversees the execution of the firm’s tax strategy in the United States and Canada and is a member of the firm’s executive leadership team. Tony is also a past member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors.


Experience

Prior to Tony’s current role, he served as national tax consulting leader, national state and local tax practice leader, Central region industrial products industry leader, and tax market leader for Nebraska. Having served in many leadership roles during his tenure with RSM, he brings a unique perspective for future strategic opportunities in tax.

Tony has extensive experience with large-scale projects and tax consulting for international clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, technology and consumer products. He understands the value clients place on the firm’s deep industry knowledge and digital tax service capabilities.

Tony believes RSM’s ability to deliver a differentiated client experience lies in its diverse and collaborative work culture. He is committed to developing and improving the lives of those he leads and often challenges colleagues by asking, “How can we take what we have and make it better?” Under Tony’s leadership, tax professionals are encouraged to be curious and think critically, which has enabled the implementation of numerous innovative tax consulting and compliance services over the years.

As a member of the STAR employee network group, Tony is passionate about mentoring and providing advocacy and advancement opportunities for women across the firm. Outside of RSM, he was recognized by his local business community as one of the “40 under 40” in 2009 and by his alma mater as the recipient of the alumni achievement award in 2013.

In 2012, Tony and his wife, Micki, co-founded a nonprofit after-school mentoring program, bringing hope and opportunity to underserved youth. They have four children and enjoy traveling and attending athletic events and country music concerts.
