Karen Costa is a tax partner and the national leader of the family office advisory center for RSM US LLP. In this role she is responsible for the build out, execution and go-to-market strategy of the family office enterprise team. She works closely with the cross line of business family office team to bring holistic solutions to meet the short- and long-term strategic goals and business needs of single, multi and virtual family offices. She is based in RSM’s Houston office.
With over 20 years of experience in the private client space, Karen understands the importance of building long-lasting relationships with clients over many generations, and she is passionate about the success and sustained legacy of her clients. Her many years in the industry have provided her with a library of experiences that she can use when encountering family and business issues. As a trusted advisor, she approaches clients without an agenda, and with a willingness to listen. She seeks to understand their top concerns and needs while working with them to develop solutions. Karen has both industry experience and Big Four public accounting experience prior to joining an RSM predecessor firm in 2001.
Karen is passionate about empowering and developing talent. As part of her leadership role, she has focused on the development and delivery of various training programs and is invested in helping each member of the team succeed. She finds satisfaction in mentoring talent to becoming the best version of themselves both personally and professionally. As part of the firm’s culture, diversity and inclusion initiative, Karen has led the Central region’s CDI initiative and was also the Houston Women’s STAR employee network group leader. Outside of the firm, she spends time with her husband and two children.
