About Gene

Gene Garcia is a principal, tax compliance and consulting services, to RSM US LLP’s real estate and construction clients. He was selected for the firm’s Industry Eminence Program in 2022 as a senior analyst covering the real estate and construction industries, working alongside the firm’s economists and other program participants to analyze industry trends shaping the landscape for middle market businesses. Gene is based in RSM’s Houston office. 


Experience

Since joining the firm in 2006, Gene has been providing tax compliance and consulting services to a variety of local market entrepreneurs and real estate professionals. He works closely with construction and real estate management companies, as well as landowners and developers. His other areas of industry focus include private equity funds, manufacturers, professional service providers and auto dealers.

Gene consults with clients on strategic planning around the life cycle of their businesses: formation, M&A, operations and liquidation of flow-through entities. He also works closely with clients and their trusted advisors on numerous real estate funds and private equity investments, with extensive experience structuring strategic and financial joint ventures.

As a member of the private client services group, Gene has experience in matters related to tax compliance and planning for closely held businesses, high net worth individuals and their related trusts. He also works with multigenerational families on wealth transfers, family wealth preservation and charitable transfers. Gene serves as a member of RSM’s tax practice advisory council and is also a tangible asset and repairs champion for the firm. He is also the Houston office leader for RSM’s culture diversity and inclusion initiative.
