Award is the highest AICPA honor

The award recognizes a person whose influence on the accounting profession as a whole is especially notable in comparison to other industry leaders. Webb joins last year’s honoree, Ernie Almonte, a partner in RSM’s Boston office.

“Bruce has significantly contributed to the growth and success of the accounting profession throughout his distinguished career,” said Jack Finning, CPA, CGMA and member of the awards committee said. “He is a dedicated and passionate volunteer. His foresight and leadership created significant positive changes in the CPA practice environment, always in support of the public interest and the profession. Bruce applied his expertise to more than 20 volunteer groups during his years of service with the AICPA.”

“Bruce exemplifies RSM’s core value of stewardship,” said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO of RSM US LLP. “A friend and mentor to many, including myself, he has been a model of high standards, quality, integrity, ethics and independence at RSM and across the profession. Through his dedication as a leader in RSM’s national professional standards group, leadership in the AICPA and mentorship of countless professionals at our firm and students at Iowa State University, Bruce has truly left RSM and our profession better than he found it. I am proud to congratulate him on this prestigious award and grateful for all he has done for our firm, our clients and our people.”

“I am extremely humbled to be awarded the AICPA Gold Medal Award of Distinction,” said Webb. “The list of previous winners is impressive, and I am honored to have my name added to that list. I was fortunate to be appointed to multiple AICPA committees throughout my career, and I thoroughly enjoyed serving on each and every one of them. I always thought I received far more than I contributed, and the opportunities provided for me opportunities to develop relationships with so many colleagues from the profession, as well as the talented AICPA staff. I am thankful that RSM sees the value in its people’s volunteer efforts, and I am proud of our firm’s wide participation in AICPA volunteer committees.”

Webb is a member (emeritus) of the Iowa State University College of Business Advisory Council, the Iowa Society of CPAs, the AICPA where he has served in numbers roles with the organization’s professional ethics executive committee and the auditing standards board.
