Between implementing significant new accounting standards and grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, nonprofit finance professionals have had their hands full. During this session, we take stock of the lessons learned from the past year and prepare for the new accounting challenges nonprofits will face in the near future. 

This presentation will cover accounting considerations related to: 

  • Accounting for revenue 
  • Impact of COVID-19 on financial reporting 
  • Preparing for the “new” lease standard 
  • In-kind donations 
  • Functional cost allocations 

Learning objectives
By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to: 

  • Articulate recent accounting updates and describe their potential effect on nonprofit organizations 
  • Discuss lessons learned from the adoption of new standards related to revenue 
  • Explain the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on financial reporting 
  • Describe how to plan for changes required by the lease accounting standards
