Inflation, customer sentiment and retail sales on tap for week ahead
WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY |
Investors will see a relatively light slate of economic data this week. Fresh information on inflation, regional manufacturing, jobless claims, consumer sentiment and retail sales round out the economic calendar. The major global events will be Bank of Canada and Bank of England rate decisions on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Other likely drivers of price action this week will be the potential for the Japanese yen to reach a level that may trigger an intervention by the Bank of Japan and further disclosures related to the Panama Papers scandal. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve will send eight speakers out to shape investor expectations, with the most notable being a speech by San Francisco Fed President John Williams on Tuesday.
