Indicators point to a challenging year for manufacturing sector
WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY |
A heavy slate of economic data and first-tier earnings releases should set the table for the week ahead in financial markets. Investors will be closely monitoring the direction of the January manufacturing and employment reports to confirm the general slowing of economic activity.
The Federal Reserve will send three speakers out to shape market expectations this week, including Vice Chair Stanley Fischer on the economy and policy. Meanwhile, outside the U.S., the Chinese purchasing managers’ index, Canadian jobs report, euro-area unemployment and the Bank of England, Bank of Mexico and Royal Bank of Australia monetary policy decisions figure to be the major global economic reports and decisions during the week.
