First-tier economic data and policy talk expected this week
WEEKLY MARKET COMMENTARY |
A large spate of first-tier economic data is on tap for this week. Also, 12 Federal Reserve speakers will provide a mix of fundamental economics and policy talk that will likely affect price action in asset markets. With equity markets staging a solid rally in October, and investors pushing the yield on the 10-year Treasury up to 2.16 percent, investors should anticipate further strong pricing reaction to the publication of the October non-farm payroll data on Nov. 6.
In addition, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will testify before the House Financial Services Committee on banking regulation this week, and former Chairman Ben Bernanke will deliver the keynote speech at the International Monetary Fund meeting in Washington. Fed Vice Chair Stanley Fischer will provide his economic outlook on Nov. 4.
