Earnings to set tone in week ahead

A spate of first-tier corporate earnings featuring U.S. financials will set the tone in pricing across asset classes during the week ahead in financial markets. On Monday, Bank of America and Yahoo will publish Q2 2016 earnings. On Tuesday Commercial, United Health Group, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft and Goldman Sachs Group are set to release earnings. Haliburton, Northern Trust and American Express are set for Wednesday. Thursday will see PulteGroup, Blackstone, BNY Mellon, AT&T and Starbucks. The week will close with earnings from General Electric, Synchrony Financial and American Airlines. The U.S. economic data is very light with fresh information on housing starts and sales, initial jobless claims and regional manufacturing being published. The International Monetary Fund will update its global macroeconomic forecast on Tuesday.
