Earnings releases and election impact on the minds of investors

During the week ahead investors will likely focus on the 258 different corporate earnings releases, ascertain the probability of the outcome of the U.S. presidential election and balance of power in Congress and the direction of growth in the domestic economy.
Major economic releases this week will be centered on housing, trade, manufacturing, consumer sentiment, a series of euro area flash purchases managers’ indexes and the U.K. third quarter gross domestic product estimate. The U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will send five speakers to the market this week featuring New York Fed President William Dudley’s speech on the evolving structure of the U.S. Treasury market on Monday. The U.S. Treasury will issue $26 billion in two-year notes on Tuesday, sell $15 billion in two-year floating rate notes on Wednesday, $34 billion in five-year notes and $28 billion in seven-year notes on Thursday.
