How does the medical device excise tax apply to your business
The medical device excise tax (MDET) is a relative newcomer to the excise tax category. Effective starting in 2013, the MDET is a tax on the manufacture or importing of medical devices, but the application is not that straightforward. In this half-hour presentation, Tom Windram, a partner in RSM's Washington National Tax office, explains how the MDET applies to many businesses and discusses areas that create confusion and situations where businesses may have the opportunity to reduce their MDET exposure.
