Mergers and acquisitions
With cash and credit more readily available, companies are looking with renewed interest at merger and acquisition opportunities as part of their growth strategies. But M&A activity is being challenged by a shrinking base of attractive and reasonably priced companies as well as by continuing troubles in some key international markets. Deal prices are drifting higher and this will mean that buyers need to plan transactions carefully, from the identification of compatible candidates through due diligence to final integration.
According to RSM US Chief Economist Joseph Brusuelas, manufacturing this year will be a tale of two halves, with the second half likely to show the effects of U.S. dollar appreciation.
The manufacturing sector is poised to see a slowdown, and private equity firms believe this will be a good time to pick up manufacturing assets.
