Medicare and the FY 2014 budget: The challenge continues
WHITE PAPER |
The many Medicare and Medicaid items being proposed as savings in the president's FY 2014 budget will all require Congressional approval, something that will most likely be difficult to accomplish, considering most recent presidential budgets became dead on arrival in Congress. Further, many of the legislative proposals have been suggested before without any actions taking place.
Nonetheless, there are just so many ways to reduce outlays without a massive system change. Sooner or later, proposals do become enacted. Therefore, providers should begin to pay close attention, as the budget process continues, with all parties looking for ways to reduce federal health care spending.
