2013 McGladrey Classic Raises More than $850,000 for Charity

Four-year charitable total surpasses $1.8 million

McGladrey LLP, the nation's leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, in conjunction with the Davis Love Foundation, announced today that the fourth annual McGladrey Classic (an official FedExCup Event of the PGA TOUR) raised more than $850,000 for local and national charitable organizations. This brings the total raised through The McGladrey Classic to more than $1.8 million since the tournament's inception in 2010.

Of the $850,000 raised for children- and family-focused charitable organizations through the 2013 tournament, McGladrey employees and clients contributed more than $430,000 through the tournament's Birdies Fore Love program.

"McGladrey has a strong focus on stewardship, and we are honored to extend that by giving back to the community through The McGladrey Classic," said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO of McGladrey. "We are proud that our employees and clients embraced Birdies Fore Love, giving back to more than 65 charitable organizations in the communities where we live and work." 

Charitable dollars raised through The McGladrey Classic are distributed by the Davis Love Foundation, which was established in 2005 by professional golfer and Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III and his wife Robin. The Foundation contributes to the wellbeing and progress of society by supporting both national and community-based programs that focus on children and their families. Its mission is to help build a better future for children who are at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes.

"Our Foundation is fortunate to be able to positively impact children and family charities through the dollars raised by The McGladrey Classic," said Love, 20-time winner on the PGA TOUR and chairman of The McGladrey Classic and the Davis Love Foundation. "It is our privilege to continue the PGA TOUR's tradition of charitable giving."

In addition to the impact on charities, The McGladrey Classic has a significant economic impact for the Golden Isles area and the State of Georgia – home of the tournament. In 2013, The McGladrey Classic had a $10.6 million economic impact on the local economy, according to an independent analysis conducted by the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development at Georgia Southern University.

"When we first announced that there would be a PGA TOUR event in the Golden Isles, we knew it would have far reaching charitable and economic impact," said Love. "Spectators, volunteers, sponsors, PGA TOUR professionals and their families love coming here. It's rewarding to showcase our area on a world stage and to generate such a strong positive charitable and economic impact."
