McGladrey, Davis Love Foundation Recognize 2012 Outstanding McGladrey Classic Volunteers
CHICAGO, IL – The Davis Love Foundation recently hosted 80 volunteer chairman and other leaders at a celebration at Retreat Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Georgia, to recognize volunteer leaders from the 2012 McGladrey Classic. McGladrey LLP, the nation’s leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, is title sponsor of The McGladrey Classic, a PGA TOUR event hosted by TOUR player and Team McGladrey Member Davis Love III.
“Volunteers are the heart of The McGladrey Classic, and have been instrumental in raising nearly $1 million for charities since the tournament’s inception in 2010,” said Tournament Director Scott Reid during the celebration.
Also during the celebration, McGladrey and the Foundation announced four outstanding volunteers for 2012, recognizing each with a $1,000 check for the charity of his or her choice. (Winning volunteers were nominated by their tournament committee chairman and voted on by multi-year volunteers.)
The 2012 outstanding volunteer awards were presented to:
- Stacy Bristol (volunteer headquarters),
- Ellen Dempsey (marshals),
- James “Jim” Goodis (practice range), and
- Mark Rushlow (supply distribution).
Bristol has been a key volunteer since The McGladrey Classic began, helping where needed before and throughout tournament week each year. Her friendliness, availability, willingness to assist with a range of needs and her consistency in going above-and-beyond were cited as reasons for her nomination. Bristol’s charity of choice is Safe Harbor Auxiliary.
Dempsey was also recognized as going above-and-beyond. She often arrived early, and always stayed on top of issues each day. Dempsey’s outstanding leadership, hospitality and accountability for the hole she marshaled made her an excellent role model for other volunteers. Her charity of choice is the Davis Love Foundation.
Goodis was described as arriving early and being the last to leave. He also often picked up additional shifts, as needed. His warm and respectful demeanor, professionalism and enthusiasm got Goodis the nomination. His charity of choice is Manna House.
Rushlow has been a valuable volunteer each fall. His positive attitude, politeness and generosity were noted, along with his willingness to arrive early, stay late and take on extra work, when needed. Rushlow’s charity of choice is Glynn Community Crisis Center – Amity House.
”At McGladrey, we understand the importance of giving back to the communities where our employees live and work, and we have a long history of doing that through monetary donations as well as employee volunteerism,” said Chief Marketing Officer Bob Gerardi. “We are thrilled that so many volunteers choose to give back to their communities by supporting The McGladrey Classic. We thank Stacy, Ellen, Jim and Mark, as well as the other 1,200 volunteers, for their dedication and support in making The McGladrey Classic such a huge success. We look forward to returning to Sea Island for this year’s tournament in November.”
