McGladrey's Bruce Jorth Appointed to AICPA's Professional Ethics Executive Committee
WEST PALM BEACH, FL– McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, a licensed CPA firm providing assurance services under the McGladrey brand, recently announced that Bruce Jorth, executive partner with McGladrey & Pullen's National Office of Risk Management, was appointed to the Professional Ethics Executive Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for the 2011-2012 volunteer service year beginning in October.
This senior technical committee is charged with interpreting and enforcing the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. The committee investigates potential disciplinary matters involving members, presents cases before the joint trial board when it finds evidence of infractions of the bylaws or the Code, and interprets the Code and proposes amendments as needed.
"Bruce thoroughly understands our firm's high standards of quality and integrity, and he has done an outstanding job of promoting and enforcing adherence to those standards," said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO for McGladrey & Pullen. "His leadership of our risk management office and his more than 30 years of public accounting experience uniquely position him to be a strong asset to the committee responsible for establishing and enforcing professional ethic standards for the profession."
"I am honored to be appointed to this important committee," said Jorth. "I look forward to working with the committee to establish and promote high standards that will enhance public awareness of and confidence in the integrity, objectivity, independence and professionalism of AICPA members."
Jorth joined McGladrey & Pullen in 1981, and was named a partner in 1994. In his role as executive partner, he oversees the inspection program and sets risk policy for the firm. Prior to this position, Jorth was the leader of the firm's Florida assurance practice.
Jorth graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in accounting.
