RSM McGladrey Davis Love Foundation PGA TOUR Set the Stage for The McGladrey Classic and Unveil Tournament Logo In Style

Kickoff event gives glimpse into PGA TOUR fall tournament – culture, history, traditions and extraordinary hospitality

SEA ISLAND, GA  – Today RSM McGladrey, one of the nation’s leading accounting, tax and business consulting firms, the Davis Love Foundation and PGA TOUR set the stage for a memorable week when The McGladrey Classic becomes the newest PGA TOUR Fall Series event October 4-10, 2010.RSM McGladrey President and COO C.E. Andrews, Davis Love Foundation Executive Director Mark Love, PGA TOUR star Zach Johnson and PGA TOUR Chief of Operations Rick George unveiled the tournament logo during a community kickoff held at The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club.

Company executives, community and state leaders, and other local representatives also were on hand for the kickoff event, which featured remarks by the hosts followed by a performance by famed artist and “world’s fastest painter” Rock Demarco. Demarco painted two stunning pieces and gave the group the first glimpse of the tournament logo, painting it amidst a canvas of some of Sea Island’s most recognizable landmarks. Both one-of-a-kind paintings will be auctioned off following the tournament with all proceeds going to benefit local charities.

“We are both proud and excited to be the title sponsor of the newest PGA TOUR Fall Series event, The McGladrey Classic,” said C.E. Andrews, RSM McGladrey president and COO. “It is very rare to have the opportunity to create a PGA TOUR or professional sporting event from the ground up. We are poised to make The McGladrey Classic an event that our clients, employees, golf fans, the Sea Island community and the professional golfers will look forward to each year. In addition, teaming with the PGA TOUR and the Davis Love Foundation will increase global awareness of the McGladrey brand name while giving back to the community.”

By these brands coming together, the benefits of the tournament will be far-reaching. According to PGA TOUR’s Rick George, “Davis, his brother Mark, and Zach, all Sea Island residents, understand what The McGladrey Classic will mean to the area in terms of economic and charitable impact. PGA TOUR tournaments typically have an economic impact on the area where they are played that ranges from $30-to-$50 million, and charity proceeds that can range from hundreds of thousands into millions.”

Proceeds from The McGladrey Classic will benefit Special Olympics, the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia and Safe Harbor.

Following the celebration, attendees had the opportunity to play a round of golf on The McGladrey Classic tournament course - Seaside at the Sea Island Golf Club. Named as one of the Top 100 courses by Golf Magazine, the par 70 Seaside course has been challenging some of the world’s best golfers since 1928.

“Today is representative of what the tournament and all the activities surrounding it promises to be. The tournament will be special, capturing everything that we love about Sea Island – the graciousness of the residents; the rich culture, history and traditions that are unique to this area; and the extraordinary hospitality provided to our friends and guests,” said Davis Love III. “The tournament venues will be spectator friendly and the genuine southern hospitality will provide the perfect backdrop for cultivating meaningful business relationships and strengthening lifelong friendships.”
