February’s event will feature a detailed presentation by Silicon Valley Bank’s Steven Pipp regarding the state of today’s technology market. Three local investors will follow, each of whom will provide his own unique perspective on both the competitive landscape and the current technology market.

- Steven Pipp, Senior Research Associate, Silicon Valley Bank
Steven is responsible for market research and analysis of the venture-backed technology space. Steven holds a master’s degree in finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in business from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He passed Level III of the CFA Program in 2017.
- Steve Fredrick, General Partner, Grotech Ventures
Steve joined Grotech Ventures in 2005. He focuses on investment opportunities in software and services with a particular interest in security, mobility and big data. Steve currently serves or has served on the boards of Grotech portfolio companies CircleBack, Ryft, Invincea, Logi Analytics, Omnilink (acquired by Numerex), Parse.ly, promoboxx, RollStream (acquired by GXS/OpenText), SocialRadar, ThreatConnect, Urjanet and White Ops.
- Richard Maclean, Managing Partner, Frontier Capital
Richard co-founded the firm in 1999. His primary industry focus has been on the firm’s managed information technology and HCM software and services investments. Richard also is involved in setting overall firm strategy and leading investor relations and fundraising. Prior to co-founding Frontier, Richard worked in the investment banking group of NationsBank in Charlotte, North Carolina and was a general partner with Blue Ridge Capital.
- Todd Klein, Partner, Revolution Growth
Todd joined Revolution after serving as co-founder, managing director and chief investment officer of SWaN & Legend Ventures and interim chief operating officer of Anonymous Content. During his 20-year career, Todd has been involved in financing and building over 150 venture and growth stage companies in the media, consumer, technology, education and health care sectors. He has served on more than 30 corporate boards and is currently on the boards of Anonymous Content, China Senior Care and Launchpad Central. He is also a board observer at Revolution Growth companies CustomInk, Optoro, Echo360 and Cava. Todd has written two books on transformative companies—entrepreneurial enterprises that change their markets, industries and the world around them—including East of Wall Street, a work of business fiction, and Built for Change: Essential Traits of Transformative Companies. Todd began his career at Salomon Brothers and earned a B.B.A. from the University of Texas and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
