The IRS recently issued new Examination and Appeals policies resulting from its Appeals Judicial Approach and Culture (AJAC) Project. These policy changes affect Appeals cases filed after Sept. 2, 2014. The AJAC polices are designed to implement a quasi-judicial approach in the way cases are settled by Appeals, and these policy changes also alter the way IRS examinations are conducted.

Our tax controversy specialists will discuss:

  • Reasons for these new policies and their potential impact on tax disputes
  • Benefits and challenges for taxpayers
  • Strategies to minimize delays and fees and expedite the appeals process
  • Preventing the return of Appeals cases to Examination
  • Managing the new Examination AJAC policies
